Registration opens Monday for MOSES organic conference

Registration for the 25th MOSES Organic Farming Conference at the La Crosse Center opens Monday.

The conference, sponsored by the Midwest Organic and Sustainable Education Services in Spring Valley, Wis., will take place from Feb. 27 through March 1.

The event has grown from a meeting of about 90 people 25 years ago to the largest such gathering in the country, attracting more than 3,000 farmers, advocates, students and educators to more than 65 workshops and 170 exhibits.

Organic University on Feb. 27 will precede the conference with 10 workshops and social activities geared to New Organic Stewards, a group for beginning farmers who want to be or are involved in organic and sustainable farming.

Delivering a keynote on March 1 will be journalist Alan Guebert, who writes the syndicated ag column “The Farm and Food File.” He will use his family’s history of adapting to change on its Illinois farm to talk about public policy and innovations the next generation of farmers will need.
