This is an interesting and, for some, possibly controversial article by Odilim Enwegbara in Leadership, a Nigerian publication. He believes GMO Foods are synonymous with what he refers to as the “rigorous pursuit of American ascendancy,” and posits that like his oil monopoly, “Rockefeller’s agribusiness…was built on vertical integration [so] that four giant chemical multinational companies – Monsanto, DuPont, Dow, and Syngenta – emerged [as] the only global players, controlling patents on the very basic food products the world depends on for its daily nutrition. ”
The end of the WWII in 1945 finally handed the US the long-aspired global economic and military supremacy; an absolute dominance never had since Alexander the Great. To remind his colleagues what the emergent American Century meant, Mr George Kennan, a senior official of the State Department and powerful protégé of the Rockefellers, in a 1948 memo said, “…we will have to dispense with all sentimentality and day-dreaming; and our attention will have to be concentrated everywhere on our immediate national objectives. We need not deceive ourselves that we can afford today the luxury of altruism and world-benefaction.” But there was no one more determined in the realisation of the much-talked about American Century than Henry Kissinger, a life-long practitioner of geopolitics, whose closeness to the Rockefellers made him the forerunner of American raw real politik. Both as the Secretary of State and National Security Adviser in 1974, he penned America’s controversial use of oil and food to dominate the entire world; and in a secret memo titled “Implications of Worldwide Population Growth for US Security and Overseas Interests,” where he declared, “Control oil and you control the nations; control food and you control the people.” Circuitously, Kissinger was absolute about why controlling the black gold was not enough. America, in his NSSM 200, should have absolute power over the world’s daily provision of bread since that’s the only way it could control the world’s population, particularly developing countries’ population, since otherwise developing countries’ population growth and economic development could pose a threat to America’s access to their strategic raw materials, badly needed for America’s continued economic dominance. In controlling global food security in ways that control the world’s population, the Rockefellers knew they needed control over the science of life itself, and ‘its applications in plant and agriculture,’ with Rockefeller controlling research in genetically modified organisms (GMO). That’s why the story of GMO is synonymous with the story of rigorous pursuit of American ascendency and Rockefeller Foundation’s eugenics (increasing the quality of ‘superior’ human species – caucasians, while reducing the quantity of ‘inferior’ beings – nonwhites). Creating a Rockefeller-led multinational agribusiness that financed the agricultural “Green Revolution,” which drove poor countries’ dependency on Rockefeller controlled agro-inputs – petro-chemical fertilisers and petroleum products – laid the foundation for the Rockefeller-led genetically modified crops, seeds, and livestock. Like Rockefeller’s oil monopoly, Rockefeller’s agribusiness too was built on vertical integration that four giant chemical multinational companies – Monsanto, DuPont, Dow, and Syngenta – emerged the only global players, controlling patents on the very basic food products the world depends on for its daily nutrition. Yes, converting family farmlands into industrial agricultural production, emptying the countryside of its valuable natural and human resources, and devastating local agro-biodiversity thanks to the excessive pesticide uses, made green revolution horrendous. But as horrendous as that revolution was, it was only setting the stage for the cruelest revolution – genetic engineering of plants and animals. Here entirely with combinations of genes made to bypass sexual reproduction itself by jumping the natural species barriers made the process dangerously imprecise, uncontrollable, and unreliable having damaged and scrambled the host genome. Notwithstanding the serious warnings from leading scientists that recombinant DNA (rDNA) could result in viruses and toxins unintentionally introduced into a plant’s cell, the US government and the Rockefeller Foundation refuse to subject GMO to rigorous regulation, let alone mandatory labeling of GMO foods says it all. First, the fact that genes from one organism could be extracted and recombined with those of another, using rDNA technology without either organism having to be of the same species, couldn’t be more disastrous. Second, removal of the requirement for species reproductive compatibility, leading to the production of new genetic combinations in a highly accelerated way could be a weapon of mass destruction, especially when allowed to enter the food chain. That this danger is true and ignored only displays how mischievous Washington and Rockefeller Foundation are. But how could such a well informed government ignore such grave danger associated with the qualitative internal alterations accompanying genetically engineered plant? Neither requiring biochemical and toxological tests nor requiring regulatory measures against the threats posed to humans? In refusing labeling, the US government and the Rockefeller Foundation insist that GMO plants and animals are “substantially equivalent” to the ordinary plants and animals of the same variety such as ordinary corn, soybeans, rice, cotton, beef, etc, making shoppers going to local supermarket unable, for example, to know whether the beef or pork they’re buying is either GMO food or not. Total disregard of the fact that the breeding of genetically engineered plant and animal is far different from the traditional methods could be so unbelievable; so unbelievable because of the potentially cancer-causing and the reproductive impairment associated with GMO foods like spermicidal corn that are targeted at particular races. But what could be more disturbing than that notwithstanding the overwhelming evidence of GMO health hazards the US government and the Rockefeller Foundation completely ignored the numerous warnings, particularly the risks it poses on the Asian and African population, which some leading scientists allegedly qualified as an imminent racial genocide? Could it be that the Rockefeller Foundation is more powerful than the US government itself? It’s unimaginable how Washington could be pursuing such a policy contradiction, especially arguing that genetically engineered foods are “substantially equivalent” to their traditional varieties, and as a result should never be regulated beyond their conventional varieties. But, then turns around to argue that the same “substantially equivalent” plants and crops should be granted patent rights for being “substantially transformed.” How unashamed is Washington making such a contradictory argument that genetically modified products should not be labeled because they are “substantially equivalent,” and, goes on to say that GMO agribusinesses should claim exclusive patent rights on their genetically modified organisms or seeds, on the ground that introducing a foreign DNA into the genome of a plant, uniquely altered the plant? Thus, if the US could argue against regulating and labeling genetically engineered foods on the basis of lacking substantial difference, why demanding GMO patent enforcement? In their desperation to force GMO seeds down the throats of developing countries’ farmers, besides persuasion, bribery, coercion, and illegal smuggling and dumping them into these countries, WTO, Department of Agriculture, State Department, CIA, USAID as well as the World Bank and IMF, have used by the Rockefeller-led gene multinationals to intimidate governments in developing countries to accept GMO foods, plants, seeds, and livestock while imposing their draconian patent rights and royalties. And to prove that that is the case, Catherine Bertini, a protégé of the Rockefeller and formerly US Assistant Secretary of Agriculture, arrogantly said, “Food is power! We use it to change behavior. Some may call that bribery. We do not apologise?” Speaking recently at the 53rd Annual General Meeting of the Nigerian Association of Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mine and Agriculture (NACCIMA) in Kano, minister of agriculture, Mr Akinwunmi Adesina said, “… Syngenta, Monsanto and DuPont have indicated interest in investing in Nigeria. In fact, in June 2013, Syngenta plans to set up an office in the country.” Was Mr Adesina speaking out of ignorance of what these companies historically represented, or as a co-conspirator? Is he not aware that the presence of these GMO agribusiness giants in Nigeria would lead to, as their presence in developing countries like Brazil, Argentine, Indonesia, Poland, and Mexico have been documented to have led to the horrific invasion of the agricultural economies of these countries, which with their wholesale consolidation, easily transferred these countries’ food production, from the hands of millions of independent family farmers to the agribusiness giants, with local farmers becoming feudal serfs working for the GMO multinational agribusiness? Why did he tell the story of Monsanto’s GMO “Roundup Ready” soybeans, the GMO soybeans that once planted, lock up the soil for Monsanto Roundup Ready soybeans, making it impossible for conventional soybeans or any other crops to grow again in the soil since the insertion of Agrobacterium sp strain CP4 into the GMO soybean’s genome coupled with the spraying of non-selective herbicide in the presence of glyphosate permanently sterilises the soil? Could it be because Adesina himself came straight from the Rockefeller Foundation to become minister?
