The Uyghurs

What strikes me about the Uyghurs is how work and entertainment are done in community.  Knife sharpening, hair cutting, baking and  weaving are all communal enterprises – whether it be a row of knife sharpeners plying their trade on the square or weavers sitting four to a bench producing a carpet.  This is what modern culture lacks and why it often feels so empty.
