ABOUT DOT EARTH

Andrew C. Revkin on Climate Change
By 2050 or so, the human population is expected to reach nine billion, essentially adding two Chinas to the number of people alive today. Those billions will be seeking food, water and other resources on a planet where, scientists say, humans are already shaping climate and the web of life. In Dot Earth, which recentlymoved from the news side of The Times to the Opinion section, Andrew C. Revkin examines efforts to balance human affairs with the planet’s limits. Conceived in part with support from a John Simon Guggenheim Fellowship, Dot Earth tracks relevant developments from suburbia to Siberia. The blog is an interactive exploration of trends and ideas with readers and experts.

    1. I’m not sure I understand your position. I agree that population projections are overblown. Another factor is as people become more educated they tend to have smaller families, but how does that disprove climate science?

  1. Willis’ point there is that Revkin discredits his site with the erroneous passage that you have copied to your site.

It’s an example of the propagation of baseless dogma.

Disproving climate “science”, of course, is a much larger question.

My suggestion is to approach the issue with an open mind and allow the purveyors of fraudulent fears to prove in their own words that they are not interested in science or truth. An hour or two invested in reading the leaked emails of the central characters at the Climate Research Unit, University of East Anglia and Penn State will suffice.

Of coarse, there will be no going back. Faith will be lost. The priesthood exposed.

    1. Please stop trying to propagate this discredited bs
From Wikipedia: The story was first broken by climate change critics on their blogs,[6] with columnist James Delingpole popularising the term “Climategate” to describe the controversy.[7] Climate change critics and others denying the significance of human caused climate change argued that the emails showed that global warming was a scientific conspiracy, in which they alleged that scientists manipulated climate data and attempted to suppress critics.[8][9] The accusations were rejected by the CRU, who said that the emails had been taken out of context and merely reflected an honest exchange of ideas.[10][11]
The mainstream media picked up the story as negotiations over climate change mitigation began in Copenhagen on 7 December.[12] Because of the timing, scientists, policy makers, and public relations experts said that the release of emails was a smear campaign intended to undermine the climate conference.[13] In response to the controversy, the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS), the American Meteorological Society (AMS) and the Union of Concerned Scientists (UCS) released statements supporting the scientific consensus that the Earth’s mean surface temperature had been rising for decades, with the AAAS concluding “based on multiple lines of scientific evidence that global climate change caused by human activities is now underway…it is a growing threat to society.”[14]
Eight committees investigated the allegations and published reports, finding no evidence of fraud or scientific misconduct.[15] However, the reports called on the scientists to avoid any such allegations in the future by taking steps to regain public confidence in their work, for example by opening up access to their supporting data, processing methods and software, and by promptly honouring freedom of information requests.[16] The scientific consensus that global warming is occurring as a result of human activity remained unchanged throughout the investigations.[17]

    2. I mean your discredited BS. What is it with you people? You think you have some secret fucking knowledge no one else has. Just stop it. I remember years ago scientists were saying that as more carbon is released into the atmosphere it will cause severe temperature fluctuations. Well it’s here. You can dispute it until you are blue in the face, but I’ve just lived through a couple of years of crazy weather here in Wisconsin. Last year we had record breaking warm temperatures in January, February and March causing the apple trees to blossom early with a frost that killed the blossoms – result – no apples. This winter in contrast has been crazy cold from late November till now. When you live in farm country, you quickly begin to realize how fragile food production can be. It is all connected.

  2. Use your head Daniels. Think critically.

    This is no secret.

Nor is it “out of context”.

The entire cache is included, in sequence.

Take the time to read them and think for yourself.

Faith is for the weak minded.

“Climate change” is not falsifiable. Therefore, by definition it can’t be “science”.

The “scientists” at the CRU were found to have committed crimes by refusing to cooperate with FOIA requests. They got off on statute of limitations having passed.
